February 2, 2023Zambo Aroma has partnered with the Literary Freedom Project to host a book club! The Literary Freedom Project presents One Book One Bronx. LFP is committed to creating spaces that help leverage the power of books, culture, and education. Our programs value the variety of histories and cultures in the Bronx and give residents places to build community and explore social engagement.
Each week, One Book One Bronx hosts restorative conversations related to gentrification, social justice, women’s empowerment, criminal justice, and racial inequality. The program reflects the borough's racial, economic, and gender demographics and builds bridges to engagement while (re)sparking a love of literature.
This event is free and open to the public. Free books will also be available.
Covering the life and works of American writer and activist James Baldwin, and the theme of racial inequality in the United States, Glaude uses these topics to discuss what he views as historically failed opportunities for America to "begin again". He analyzes Baldwin's activism and sexuality and his non-fiction writings, perceiving a shift in his later works. Glaude uses ideas from Baldwin to comment on contemporary racial topics such as the Black Lives Matter movement.

Singers, Dancers, Poets, Comics, Live Painters, Theatrics, and more. Anyone that has a talent that they want to show off. Step on the stage and represent.
Showcase your talent in front of others physically and digitally. All creative acts are welcome. We are looking for people that have unique talents, music to perform, or want to showcase written work.

- To perform at the open mic, pay the cover fee then check-in with the host on the night of the event.

The Bluest Eye is Toni Morrison's first novel, a book heralded for its richness of language and boldness of vision. Set in the author's girlhood hometown of Lorain, Ohio, it tells the story of black, eleven-year-old Pecola Breedlove. Pecola prays for her eyes to turn blue so that she will be as beautiful and beloved as all the blond, blue-eyed children in America. In the autumn of 1941, the year the marigolds in the Breedloves' garden do not bloom. Pecola's life does change- in painful, devastating ways.

February 10, 2023Come to Zambo Aroma as we combine art and wellness together. The instructor will guide all participants in painting. No artistic skill is required.
Purchase includes canvas and paint supplies. We also provide protective smocks to prevent paint splatters on your clothing.
We will have unlimited house wine. You’re welcome to bring your preferred alcohol.
Music is provided by our in-house playlist sure to keep creative juices flowing.

February 11, 2023New to candle making or just want to learn how to make your own candle? Well in this session you will learn the basics of candle making. You will learn what is required to have a wonderful smelling candle and leave this session with three16 oz candles.
Natural wax candles are a wonderful addition to any brand. They add ambiance, fragrance, and help to set the mood. In this hands-on workshop you will make your own candles, learn how to create candles in glass containers, choose your own scents. This class will help you to see if entering the market is right for you. Future entrepreneurs can learn how to create higher-quality candles. If you are interested in making candles to sell or as a craft for gifts or professionally, this class is for you!
Participants will design two candles with a wax base in glass jars. We use soy wax but can create a blend with beeswax. Choose the color, smell (with essential oils and natural fragrance oils), and herbs that act as a garnish on the top.
Join us for a candle-making workshop where the Owner, Tree Alexander gives instructions and tips on how to make the perfect candle!
What does your ticket get you?
- Includes three16 oz scented soy candles.
- Create your own candle name, scent, garnish, and label.
- We will provide unlimited wine for people to drink.
Aprons will be provided to protect against splashes or spills.
